Vegetable Shopping
Today the children have walked to the local Post Office to visit the fruit and vegetable stall. They have looked at the different fruits and vegetables on display, and learned the names of them. They helped to count out the number of pears and satsumas we wanted. As well as picking some carrots and tomatoes on the vine to try.
When we got back to pre-school the children helped prepare some of the fruit and veg ready for snack, demonstrating how carefully they could use the knives to cut. After snack any of the uneaten fruit and vegetables along with the carrot tops were taken home by one of our staff members to provide a tasty treat for her guinea pigs.
They then watched a video about how eggs and vegetables were produced on the farms before they got to our shops.
